Recap of 2025:
We had another stellar year in 2025, only losing 2 games and advancing to
the region semi finals .In the summer our starting quarterback, who was injured
in the last game last year, got injured again and had to sit out the whole
year.
We started on the road at Eastern View and won 23-6. The score was only 8-3
at half. Our second game was on the road also at Liberty. We built up a 33-0
halftime lead and coasted 46-16. Our first home game was against Brentsville
and even though they scored first and led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter,
we caught fire in the second quarter and coasted to a 42-12 win. Next we
traveled to Skyline. We led 19-7 at half and wound up winning 41-7.
Musselman and Harrisonburg dropped us this year. So in our next game we
faced an unfamiliar opponent in Westmoreland at Home. It was no contest and we
won 42-0.
Every now and then a team has a bad game. We faced Kettle Run at home in our
6th game and practically gave the game away. We gave up 7 turnovers,
among them 3 pick 6’s. We were shut out and lost 34-0. Despite this, we led the
game in total yardage 219-112.
We rebounded the following week at home by blanking Manassas Park 42-0. This
was a strange game—Manassas Park refused to play in the second half, so the
game ended in just 2 quarters,
In our next game at Sherando defense was the name of the game. All the
scoring came in the first two quarters. It was tied at the end of the first
quarter, then we scored in the second quarter to lead at half 14-7. That was
the final score.. We out rushed them 198 to 30.
In a tight game on the road at James Wood, we trailed 21-13 at half, then
outscored them 15-2 in the second half to win 35-23. We out rushed them
289-143. In this game we also won the Apple Cup which is awarded to the best team
in the area.
In our last regular season game at home against Millbrook we built up a 28-0
halftime lead and coasted 62-21. We won the NW district class 4 title and
finished the regular season 9-1.
In the region quarter final we faced Liberty at home. We led 27-0 at half
and beat them soundly again 48-0.
We faced a tough Jefferson Forest team for the first time in our long
history. We led 10-7 at the half and after a scoreless 3rd quarter,
disaster struck. Late in the game Jefferson Forest block a punt deep in our
territory and on a 4rth and one from our goal line they scored with 1:54 left
to play. We still weren’t done, as we used up the final seconds and advanced in
their territory before an interception ended the game. A great season ended
with a record of 10-2.
